Where anything can grow with just a bit of nurturing

Archives for the day Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

That’s the number of pictures I took on a 70 mile round-trip road trip today. Impromptu, sort of trip. I wanted to go to the nearest craft store and that’s over 30 miles one way. Well the nearest one is closer, however, the road construction to make Rt 17 into Interstate 86 hinders a smooth trip, so I opt to go the other direction. I suppose I could have gone to the one to the north and stopped to take pictures at the lake, but I don’t like driving through that city either. It was a nice fun trip, however, the store did not have the yarn I wanted *blah* I did find 2 that I wanted, but really worth the trip. When we came back, we sidetracked some to take the long way home. It was a nice day overall. It’s the only upside to Rob’s closing shifts.

The downside? I don’t sit at my desk a whole lot at night, I take the laptop and sit in the living room most of the time. I did change my DJ schedule to evenings, though. So if you’re interested in tuning in, I’m on Wednesday nights and Saturday nights from 6pm-8pm. I was burning out on day shows, especially 3 hour shows. I needed to shorten them up and the only way to do it was to do evenings.

My sleep schedule isn’t too bad lately either, bed by 1ish, up by 9ish. I’m sleeping decently most of the time too. Except when he comes in at 3:30-4am from working late and wakes me up. *grumble*

Oh, I haven’t updated on the car have I? Or did I even post about it at all? I don’t remember really. All I know is that I’ve been having car drama again the last couple weeks. It started out the 1st of May when I had my blood draw. We had a good day, did a few things, etc and came home. Afternoon, we sent him to get a pizza for dinner and our car died. Seemed that it had simply overheated and we thought that was the end of it. It was until that Friday. He came out of work and went to the store and it died again. Let it sit to cool down and it wouldn’t start again, so we got a friend to bring him home and the car was towed to the garage. It proceeded to sit there all weekend because the mechanic doesn’t work weekends, which is fine. We got him to and from work Saturday and to work Sunday. He got done at 1ish, went and hung out at the 24-hour gas station/coffee shop until his work opened again. He went back over there and sat til the mechanic (who’s next door to his work) got in. They ran the car, tried to find a problem and it behaved perfectly. Over 3 hours and we were told there was nothing that they could do until it died and wouldn’t start at all. So, he comes out of work at 12:30am, gets part way home and the car dies. Going UP HILL, in front of someone’s house.. it died totally. So, he calls me and the tow truck and back to the shop it goes. Lucky for him, the tow truck driver took pity and brought him to the corner. Otherwise that’s a good 8 mile walk in the dark on country roads.

So anyway. I call the following morning and say “It’s dead again. Fix something.” Well no, not really, I tell the mechanic what happened and he goes out.. car is dead this time. It died good. I’m glad for that, really, because it meant that it could actually be fixed this time. Several hours later, after hearing nothing from the mechanic, I call and find out the status. It was being fixed and could be picked up in a couple hours. Yay. So we call in one more favor and we retrieve the car a couple hours later. NOW? It runs SO much better than it has in MONTHS! I’m SO happy about it. Don’t like the cost. $421 with towing that time, plus another $80 in towing charges for the first two failed attempts and finding the problem.

So yeah, I think that’s a big enough of a catch up for y’all. And Idol is on, so…

Round 1: Judges Choice
Jordin – Wishing on a star – Didn’t like the arrangement. I agree with Simon on this one.
Blake – Roxanne – Great choice, Paula. Fits his style. Yay, no beat boxing, it didn’t need it. I liked this a lot.
Melinda – I Believe in You and Me – Tough song, but she pulled it off better than I thought she would. I’m slightly shocked, but she should be able to do it.
Winner Round 1: Melinda

Round 2: Producer’s Choice
Jordin – She Works Hard For The Money – Note: I *deplore* this song in general. She isn’t too bad. Still not a favorite of mine.
Blake – This Love – Wow.. they picked something way current.. Too karaoke for me. Nice bit of beat boxing, but it didn’t redeem him this time.
Melinda – Nutbush City Limits – First: Wtf is this song? I liked this. A lot. Never heard the song, but I liked it. Wow.
Winner Round 2: Melinda

Round 3: Singer’s Choice
Jordin – I Who Have Nothing – This song suits her, even with the bad notes. Not her best, definitely not her best of the night either.
Blake – When I Get You Alone – Wtf is he doing Robin Thicke for??? I like this, best of the night for Blake. I can’t believe he chose that tho.
Melinda – I’m A Woman – WOMAN! Wow. She did a fantastic job with this tonight. Wow.
Winner Round 3: Melinda

I’m rooting for Blake, but Melinda has him beat tonight.
Who’s going home? Jordin. Sorry to the Jordin fans, but she wasn’t consistently good tonight.

A few thoughts on Monday’s show. Ian finally brought it, but too little too late, I’m afraid. Joey and Apolo are my top two picks. Sorry Laila, I don’t care for you much. Apolo was absolutely awesome. I think that he should have had the perfect 60 Monday as well. His dance may have been raunchy, but it was damn good. So.. we’ll see. :)

Yay a rerun of Joey’s Jive. It was the most fun and lesser of the raunchy. Altho seeing Ian as Elvis again would have been okay too. Enrique Iglacias.. meh.. The judges talk about raunchy dancing, I’ve got to say that the pros dancing with Enrique are pretty raunchy too. Even last year was pretty raunchy, so um, yeah.

YAY Safety for Joey! Good. Flamenco dancing? This is new for this show. They could have done without it, thankyouverymuch. Especially a male flamenco dancer. At least the women have pretty skirts that they flip around when they dance. To me, this is just tap to latin music. :P Can we get on with the results now? Please? Nope, waste more time. Hour of results show for 4 people? *headdesk*

More Enrique, blah. Can we please get on with it now? I’m sick of 1hr results full of time wasting. *yawn* Good thing we’re almost to the finale. Lalala.. one more week. Can we eliminate someone? Please? Nope.. more time wasting *stab*

Safety for… Laila. Damn. That means Ian or Apolo will be leaving. That has to mean that Ian is leaving. Apolo is too good to not have gotten the votes. Oh well more commercials. After that they should reveal..lalala.. I’m bored with this long ass hour.

Goodbye to.. Ian.. No 3-peat for Cheryl. Sad, but at least Apolo is going to the finals. So it’s Apolo, Joey and Laila. Good luck to the men. Hopefully one will win. Sorry, I don’t want Laila to win. She’s far too cocky.
