So, I watched this morning’s Meet The Press tribute to Tim Russert. I meant to watch it when it was on this morning, but I slept through it. Luckily, though, MSNBC had it on again tonight so I got to catch it in one piece, rather than chunks on the web. It was a really nice tribute, funny, poignant, and very well done. I’m very surprised at how well they all held together while they did the show.
I tend to not talk much about people I’ve met, but I do remember meeting Tim Russert when I was in college. He was speaking to a journalism class on campus and I was working in the Activities Office that semester. The back part of our office was campus security, so any visitors were supposed to pass through security. They were out on a call when he arrived, so being I was the only one in the office, I had the honor or checking him in.
It was a brief, but memorable meeting, he was very sweet, kind and unassuming. He was very understanding that I had never done a check in before and was very kind about the delay. I did not know who he was, at the time. I assumed he was just a random journalist, since I didn’t watch much news, especially not Meet The Press. When the director came in later, saw the check in sheet and started asking questions, I got curious and learned then who I had been dealing with.
But yeah, I’m going to go chill ’til the Tony’s come on. I have other stuff to post about, but I’ve been kinda meh about posting lately.

I thought the Rent segment would be longer
Ya know, I never did see the rent segment. I should pull it up on YouTube at some point.
