Awesomeness

Saturday, September 27th, 2008

I’m not up to posting a whole lot tonight, so I will say that today was fabulous. Seriously. We went to cash his check and came home after a brief stop at the bread store and taco bell. Came home and caught up on email, lj and plurk.

Headed off to get pizza for dinner, then wen to the football game. Yes, that’s high school football. It was misty, but that’s alright, it wasn’t bad. It wasn’t even horribly cold. We lost by 2 points, but it was one helluva game.

Anyway, that’s all for now, I’m tired, I need sleep and have plans tomorrow. Eventually I’ll give you a better post. :P

Site Review: Blue Nile

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Buying a diamond can be a scary and tricky thing to do if you don’t know what you’re doing. It’s a lot harder if you’re wanting to buy one online. That’s why you need to check out Blue Nile’s diamond collection. Diamonds are all measured by the 4 C’s, which means color, cut, clarity and carat weight, and depending on what you want, they also determine the price of the diamond you choose.

Jewelry is never easy to shop for, especially for a man who is trying to purchase a diamond for someone. Blue Nile will guide you through the whole process, educating you about the value of the diamond and not just showing you the most expensive one without you knowing what you’re doing.

Engagement Rings are one of the first things diamond shoppers buy and with Blue Nile, you can create the ring of your dreams with their custom ring creator. You get just what you want without having any sort of hidden problems jumping out at you in the end. Above all that, their diamonds are priced 20-40% lower than most other competitors.

Blue Nile ships via FedEx for free, no matter what you order. It can’t get much easier to shop for a diamond. You can search, you can create, you can browse and you can get it delivered without ever having to face a pushy salesperson. You can even get educated at the same time so you make the best decision possible and rest comfortably knowing that each diamond is certified so that you’re not going to get screwed.

Shop Blue Nile for your next diamond purchase and see for yourself.

What a game…

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

That was one helluva Yankees game. The pre-game celebrations and post-game celebrations were very well done. I’m glad they one, that’s for sure. It would have been wrong had they lost. Watching them walk the outfield and salute the fans is awesome. Well done, Yankees. Amazing game, really. You would have thought it was a world series game from the crowd.

Books

Sunday, September 21st, 2008

Since I plurked about it, I should post about it…
The other day, I got an advance reader copy of Lori Handeland’s upcoming book.
Advance. Reader. Copy.

So far? It’s excellent!

*sigh*

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

I’m so not happy with myself atm.. I had a soda accident.
I spilled half a can of soda on my crochet bag…
*sigh*

The princess blanket is destroyed. There is no way the stain will come out of that and it was around half done.
The purple striped blanket got wet, but I got it quickly enough that it didn’t stain. Hopefully when it dries it’ll be fine.
The pink lapghan I had started (Only had 3 rows done, thankfully) was destroyed.

One skein of pink yarn was destroyed.
One skein of malibu blue was slightly damp, but not harmed
Crochet pattern book, soaked. Possibly destroyed.
Bag soaked, not destroyed

The only thing untouched in the bag was the Pink/Blue Granny Square blanket I had started.

Eye See…

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Some days, especially when it’s hot and icky, I keep thinking that I should get contact lenses so that I don’t have to wear my glasses all the time. I don’t know if I can wear them, though. I don’t know that I can put them in without killing myself or something.

I hate my glasses, but I love my glasses too. Anyway. Today, I hate my glasses.

Can You Swim?

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I can’t swim. I never learned how to swim, never had a reason to.When we lived in Vegas, we spent a lot of time at the pool, mostly because it was the coolest place to be. We always saw a lot of people with pool floats and I never really understood why. Isn’t the point of going to the pool to be in the water?

Even though I can’t swim, I was in the water, a lot. I just stayed in the shallow end. I stayed where it was comfortable for me to be able to enjoy the water without drowning. So why use pool floats? To be close to the water without being in it? I don’t understand.

Camera Lust

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I love my camera, I really do. I would also love to have a Canon Powershot as well. Something that’s a bit more professional and has a better zoom feature to it. I definitely need to get a tripod for one sooner or later. I don’t know, however, if Kodak has the ones that are not table top.

I keep lusting after nicer camera, but I still love mine and wouldn’t trade it. What a conflict.

Oh God…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I need to stop stressing out. My skin is a major wreck and I really need to find an acne treatment that doesn’t make my skin oily. I know that when I stress, my skin breaks out, but I can’t stop stressing when I’m faced with all the crap I seem to be dealing with.

Tax class is stressing me out, especially since I didn’t know I was going to have to do on site testing next month. I’m stressing because, due to having other things going on, I’ve gotten behind. I’m stressing and breaking out and I hate it.

Economy

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

The economy sucks, we all know this. This means that there is a lot of stores going out of business, closing, doing whatever they can not to sink into the cesspool that is our economy. This means that there is a ton of commercial real estate out there to be had, if you can afford it.

The sad part is that most people can’t, otherwise they would have their businesses already. It’s scary to see the amount of businesses that are closed. It’s scary to see what is happening to the economy. I don’t like the idea that we’re heading for disaster, but there’s nothing that we can do about it, is there?

Home Improvement

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I keep watching different home improvement type shows, shows where they fix up houses for sale and whatnot. One thing that I’ve noticed is that when they do a kitchen, they change the kitchen sinks 9 times out of 10. And it always makes a vast improvement to the kitchen. I don’t understand why, though, a sink can make such a big difference.

I do love watching home improvement shows, it gives me a ton of ideas for what I’d like to do if I had the money to do it. Hopefully, one day…

Life Is Not Insured..

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Life is not insured nearly as well as it should be. What do I mean by that? I mean that if you look at a term life insurance quote from one company with a quote from another company, there are always a bunch of differences. You always have to decide what you’re willing to compromise on and what you aren’t. That means that your life is never fully insured, unless you have multiple policies.

It should not be that difficult to make sure your life is fully insured, and it should not be as expensive as it is either, but that’s a subject for another day. Maybe we need to have some sort of regulation on the industry so that no one goes without.

Craftiness

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

So, I love to do different crafts and one of the cool things that I’ve seen people do is make pet beds with some fabric and fiber fill. The problem with those, however, is that they are hard to keep clean. What I was thinking is that if you take a foam form, carve it to the shape of the pet bed and then take your fabric and make a zippered cover, it would work better. You could clean it once a week. It would keep the pet hair down. You could even use stuff to clean the foam as well.

Ugh…

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

I’m tired today. I went to bed at a reasonable hour, considering I’d been going to bed around 3am.. Woke up at 8 to go to Rob’s appointment.. Got home and laid down around 1 and slept for about 2 hours.. Got up to deal with some packages, then around 6 I laid down again and slept until 8. I think that the anti-histamine is doing it to me, but geez.

Enough is enough. I need to work on my Tax class stuff, I need to work on my other stuff, I need to be awake, damn it. I definitely need to redo my layout. The one I put up recently, the images are gone from the hosting.. so now I need to redo it.. put up an old one I had til I can get a decent header image and redo my layout.

I’m tired. I want to go back to sleep again. More real content tomorrow-ish.

The Express

Saturday, September 13th, 2008

So, The Express premiered in Syracuse tonight. I can only imagine the hoopla surrounding that. The only reason that this interests me is because it’s the story of Ernie Davis.

Ernie Davis (December 14, 1939 - May 18, 1963) was an American Football player who became the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. Wearing number 44, Davis competed collegiately for Syracuse University before being drafted by the Washington Redskins then almost immediately traded to the Cleveland Browns in December 1961. However, the running back would never play a professional game after developing leukemia in 1962.

Born and raised near Pittsburgh, Ernie was born into the poverty of the coal-belt. His parents separated shortly before his father died in an accident. Raised in the nearby Pittsburgh industrial center of Uniontown by his grandparents, Davis moved to Elmira, New York at age 12 with his mother and new stepfather. He played in Elmira’s Small Fry Football League for the Superior Buicks and was named a Small Fry All-Star in both 1952 and 1953. He played basketball in grade school as well, also being chosen as an All-Star player.

Throughout his high school years at Elmira Free Academy (Ernie Davis Middle School was named after Davis in 1964), Davis’ talents on the football field became clear. He was named Elmira Player of the Year and high school All-American in both his junior and senior years. He also showed great athletic prowess in varsity basketball and baseball, all while excelling academically. At a time when many universities were not offering scholarships to black athletes, colleges from around the country watched Davis’ high school career closely, and over 50 offered him scholarships (including Notre Dame and UCLA).

Now, for those of you who have been paying any attention to anything I post knows that I live close to Elmira, so I grew up hearing about Ernie Davis. I didn’t realize that they were making the movie, but I’m glad that they did. I am considering seeing it when it hits the theatre in October, but I may wait for the DVD instead since it’s not the kind of movie Rob would like.

I was going to go to the first S-VE home game tonight, but the weather was absolutely craptacular. It had rained all day and was still pretty nasty looking. They put in new bleachers, so I can almost guarantee it was muddy as all get out unless they concreted or something, which I doubt. Maybe next Friday I’ll go to the game at Candor.

Anyway, that’s my update for the night, more tomorrow or sometime this weekend.

Site Review: ShopWiki

Friday, September 12th, 2008

ShopWiki is an interesting website, for sure. Much like other shopping sites, you search for what you’re looking for and it comes up with links to all the stores that have the item you want. The difference, however, is that with ShopWiki, you can browse through things and see if anything strikes your fancy. For instance, if you are a collector or want to buy some piece of memorabilia, you can browse their wiki.

Not only can you find different stores selling the items that you want to buy, you can browse the buying guides so that you can learn about what you want to buy so that you’re getting the best deal. You can learn how to keep yourself from being scammed as well. Sadly, being scammed when you buy online has become more and more prevalent when buying memorabilia, so you really have to be aware of what you’re buying.

Along with their buying guides, ShopWiki offers you great links to other sites that will help you educate yourself thoroughly before making a purchase. No other shopping sites go to the length that ShopWiki does to help you make the best purchase possible. If you’re looking for memorabilia or anything else, check out ShopWiki first and see if you can find your items there.

Argh!

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

I need to invest in some laptop memory soon. It’s frustrating to try to use it lately cuz Vista is a memory hog. What can I do tho? I didn’t get it to be able to run a ton and I should be able to use it for my tax class without a problem. I should just remember to take it with me when I know I’m going to have time to kill.

For instance, today I sat for a while at McD’s while Rob had a meeting and I was left twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do. Thankfully I keep a notebook in the car at all times. I started a bit of a story, not that great though, so it’ll probably be just the first couple paragraphs and nothing more. ;)

Oh my lord..

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

So they FINALLY got the tax class crap online and I did the first lesson. My god my head is spinning, majorly. I definitely am going to enjoy the class, that’s for sure. It’s going to be hard work, the homework quizzes are not easy, for sure. If the homework is hard, I’m betting the assessments are gonna be a real bitch.

I’d forgotten just how much I dislike studying! *laugh*

Bills, Bills, Bills…

Tuesday, September 9th, 2008

Everyone has bills, right? I know I have more than I want some days. It’s okay, thought, it’s a part of life. But, that’s also where you need Bills.com too. They offer advice and services to help people manage their bills.

Debt relief is one of the services that they offer people. If you’re struggling, they can offer you advice on debt relief, credit rating advice and other great advice to help keep you out of debt. Everyone needs to plan for their future, especially in a struggling economy and not knowing if the same services will be there for us as are out there for the older people now. Will Social Security be around? We have no way of knowing.

I know that for me, my Bills IQ is 66%, which is definitely not a good thing, but I have education debt, credit card debt and a mortgage in my name. I do the best that I can, but it’s not always easy and probably never will be easy. I do know that I am better off than some people, however, so I just keep my chin up and do what I can do and try hard not to complain too much.

I don’t know what the future will hold, but I will make it through the best that I can.
