…and just write. Someone told me that once a long, long time ago and I think that I forget how to do that sometimes. I get caught up in what I want to write and what I need to write and just plainly forget to write. I compose posts in my head all the time. I just never get around to posting them, especially when it comes to trying to read through everyone else’s posts first.
My other habit is to just walk away. Like I did today. I got up this morning and put together veggie confetti bread, so I got distracted when I went to check on it and just now came back, 3 hours later. Why so long? Rob has to work 5pm-1am tonight, so rather than the typical sandwiches for lunch, I decided to make a hot lunch. So, I made stir fry rice with chicken, peppers and onions. There’s a ton still in my wok, so I’ve got my dinner already. Yum.
Tomorrow, I plan on making chicken wings. I was going to make homemade pizza and have our own little Super Bowl Party meal, but Rob has to work tomorrow. I’m ticked. I would have thought that, since it’s almost guaranteed he won’t get home until close to 3am, he would have tomorrow off. No, because everyone and their brother had to have it off, he has to work. So much for my pizza’n'wing-fest. Oh well, Mom and I are the only ones who like wings, so I’ll make them for us.
I’m feeling pretty unhappy atm, so rather than stay around and say something I may not regret later, I’m gonna go try to work on one of my projects, especially since I don’t feel like doing any of my work. Made by defiant_angel
So, I’ve been seeing all kinds of new advertisements since the first of the year. One thing that I’ve noticed is that around the first of every year, you get a new round of celebrity spokespeople. It makes me wonder, sometimes, especially when it comes to the diet plans and pills, whether the celebrity has actually used the product or service that they are speaking for. For instance, the new celebrity spokes person for alli weight-loss is Wynonna Judd.
Everyone who knows who Wynonna is, knows that she has struggled with her weight for her entire life, so she would be an ideal spokesperson for a diet plan if she were to be losing weight. I know that she says that she wouldn’t endorse something that she isn’t really using it with success. But, they say that money talks and in a lot of cases, it really does. Does it talk for Wynonna or is she really finding success with Alli? I wish that there was a way to find out the real truth, especially since if it’s working for her, I’d be willing to try it for myself.
One of the things that really gives me great concern in life is that my mother, while only being 66, is less and less able to get around and do things on her own. She has fibromyalgia, which causes her a lot of pain and some diminished muscle tone, which makes her weak. This is one of the big reasons that my husband and I continue to live with her, as frustrating as it may be at times.
There are a lot of days when I hate living here because there is no privacy, but when I think about moving out, I can’t bring myself to consider it for more than a few seconds. I worry about my mother way too much. There’s the issue of her not eating properly if there is no one there to make sure there is a decent meal at least once a day. I know that when I wasn’t living there, she didn’t eat more than a sandwich or half a pack of Raman noodles. I was upset when I found this out because she doesn’t seem to want to take care of herself.
Another big issue I have with leaving her here alone is bathroom safety. She has, more than once, nearly fallen while getting in and out of the bathtub. If she was living here alone and fell, it could be a week before anyone noticed that there was something wrong, since we live out in the middle of nowhere. I know that when I was away, she hardly ever had anyone stop by, so that worries me, quite a bit.
I know that if I did move out, but was still close, I’d be on the phone with her almost all the time or I’d be here checking up on her, which really defeats the purpose of moving out, so why rock the boat? Why not stay here where I can keep a close eye on her, especially when she doesn’t realize that she needs someone here.

I’ve written before about escorted tours, so this isn’t really a new subject for me to talk about. What I am going to do, however, is give a bit more of an idea of why you would want to take your vacation this way. I can’t imagine going on vacation alone, honestly, to a city that I’ve never been to before. I can’t even imagine taking a vacation with my husband to a city neither of us know.
By taking an escorted tour, you can visit a city, either alone or with someone else who has never been there without feeling like a complete inept tourist. On an escorted tour, you are accompanied by a tour director, taking you to all the major sites, makes sure that you see what you need to see and they also make sure that you are completely taken care of during your stay.
Escorted Tour packages often include flights, hotels, transportation, transfers to and from the airport and hotel, most meals and sightseeing. The sightseeing tours are often conducted by a motor coach, rather than by foot and can be fast-pasted, but if you prefer something more leisurely there are packages available for that as well.
Everything that you want out of a vacation can be given to you with an escorted tour, everything you expect of a vacation can be given to you, as well, so that you can enjoy your vacation without ever having to worry about anything going wrong. Why take a traditional vacation where you don’t know if you will get the chance to see and do everything you want to do when you can take an escorted tour and be sure that you see everything that you want to see.
Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) has always been a bit different, never caring about or fitting in with the trendy girls at her Phoenix, Arizona high school. When her mother Renee (Sarah Clarke) remarries and decides to move with her new husband to Florida, and Bella decides to go live with her father, Charlie (Billy Burke), in the rainy little town of Forks, Washington, she doesn’t expect anything to change. Then she meets the mysterious and dazzlingly beautiful Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), a boy unlike any she’s ever met. Intelligent and witty, his piercing eyes see straight into her soul. Soon, Bella and Edward are swept up in a passionate and decidedly unorthodox romance. Edward can run faster than any cheetah, he can stop a moving car with his bare hands, and he hasn’t aged since 1918. Most importantly, he’s a vampire. Like all vampires, he’s immortal. He doesn’t drink human blood (they’re vampire “vegetarians”), which is rare among the vampire population. Instead, they go on regular “hiking” trips, where they feed on prey such as grizzly bears and mountain lions. For Edward, Bella is the thing he has waited ninety years for – a soul mate. But the closer they get, the more Edward must struggle to resist the primal pull of her scent, which could send him into an uncontrollable frenzy. And what will they do when James (Cam Gigandet), Laurent (Edi Gathegi), and Victoria (Rachel Lefevre) come into town and James sets his sights on Bella? Will true love prevail when Edward is forced to save her life and conquer his thirst? The true question is, When you can live forever, what do you live for?
Harry Potter’s sixth year at Hogwarts turns out to be quite the exciting year. First off is the arrival of a new teacher at Hogwarts, Horace Slughorn, who is a bit more useful to Harry than he realizes. Next, Harry obtains a Potions book which used to be belong to the very mysterious Half-Blood Prince. Harry finds that the Half-Blood Prince’s ancient scribbles are written along the margins of almost every page, giving Harry advice on how to improve greatly on his Potions work, and also teaching him a few helpful (and dangerous) spells along the way.
Amidst this, Harry is starting private lessons with Professor Dumbledore, during which Harry learns the dark secrets of Voldemort’s past, hoping that they could use these secrets to find a way to defeat him.
Harry’s year gets even more stressful with the suspicious actions of Draco Malfoy, who has been sneaking around the school doing, so Harry assumes, Voldemort’s bidding. Harry quickly becomes determined, and slightly obsessed, to find out exactly what Malfoy has been up to and putting and end to it.
Yet, during this time, Harry and his friends go through daily life, busy with school work, Quidditch, (in which Harry has been made captain of the team) and of course, romance. Ron has found a new girlfriend, Lavender Brown, a perky (if not obnoxious) Gryffindor student, and Hermione is not happy about it. Ron and Hermione’s friendship takes a toll throughout the school year and Harry, as usual, is stuck in the middle. Harry, meanwhile, is facing a romantic dilemma of his own: he realizes he is falling for his best friend’s sister, Ginny Weasley, who is unfortunately dating Harry’s classmate, Dean Thomas. Harry’s pining for Ginny and Ron’s hilarious relationship with Lavender give this story a large dose of reality.
Throughout all the school drama, however, the obvious darkness of Voldemort’s impending rise to power is always apparent. The incredible action-packed climax is sure to leave the audience stunned and, inevitably, prove that you shouldn’t trust everybody who you think is good and also prove that not everyone can manage to survive.
Based on the incredible true story, The Express follows the inspirational life of college football hero Ernie Davis (Rob Brown), the first African-American to win the Heisman Trophy. Following his draft by the NFL, tragedy struck the star athlete and he was never able to take the professional field. But his tale would forever change the face of professional sports.
Raised in poverty in the Southern Tier of New York State, Davis overcame seemingly insurmountable obstacles to become an unstoppable running back for the Syracuse Orangemen. Under the guidance of coach Ben Schwartzwalder (Dennis Quaid) – a hard-nosed surrogate father with an obsession for winning a national championship – Davis would develop from an impressive high-school athlete into a legend.
While everyone agreed Ernie Davis was a miracle player, few thought this quiet young man would become an icon for the burgeoning civil rights movement dividing America in the early 1960′s. Refusing to play by the unspoken racist rules of the day, Davis broke through one barrier after another to alter the way fans looked at men of his color.
Though struck a terrible blow in the prime of his life, his spirit soared when most would crumble. Forcing his bull-headed coach to re-examine a life lived in color-based privilege, Davis would join the ranks of black pioneers who inspired a movement that smashed barriers on and off the playing field. Charlaine Harris – Dead Until Dark (Southern Vampires Mystery Book 1)
Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana, but she keeps to herself and doesn’t date much because of her “disability” to read minds. When she meets Bill, Sookie can’t hear a word he’s thinking. He’s the type of guy she’s waited for all of her life, but he has a disability, too–he’s a vampire with a bad reputation. When one of Sookie’s coworkers is killed, she fears she’s next.
So, yesterday I got summoned for jury duty on February 18th. Today? My mother gets summoned for Jury Duty on February 19th. What?? So, on February 16th the jury selection begins for the Calvin Harris case. This is a huge case and I sincerely doubt that they are going to be seating a jury for any other case during the biggest case the county has.
It’s crazy to think that I’ll be going for jury duty for that case, but I know that neither my mother or I can be seated on the jury because there is absolutely no way that either of us can be fair and impartial. Michelle Harris disappeared from her home that is just a few miles from where I live. Franky, I’ve said from day 1 that he is guilty. If this is the case that I was summoned for, there’s no question about my impartiality being nil.
February is going to be one busy month. Made by arsenicandtea
There was a time when you could count on being a doctor, nurse, lawyer, teacher or mechanic if you wanted to have a job that is safe. In today’s economy, most of those career fields are no longer secure. It’s scary, really, to think that the jobs that are pushed as most secure can be lost so easily. That is with the exception of one field, however. There is one sector of jobs that are still secure.
The healthcare jobs are the most secure right now. In fact, they are even more secure than ever because with the struggling economy there are fewer people with health insurance and regular health care. If someone gets sick, they tend to not go to the doctor because they can’t afford it. Medications are more expensive, doctor visits are more costly. People don’t want to spend money they don’t have, so they put it off and often times hurt themselves more in the end.
Hopefully with the new Presidency, there will be something that will change the system for the better so that people are able to care for themselves.
Why is it that there are news sources out there who can’t be bothered doing any sort of real research before reporting a story? I don’t understand what they can possibly gain from reporting a story such as the one that has been reported about the recent Inauguration blunder with the Oath. Honestly, no one was President between Bush and Obama. If there had been, it would not have been Biden, nor would it have been Pelosi, nor (as it was reported in one place) was it Rice. IF there had been, it would have been the person that was off in a secure location for such an event.
If anyone wants to know the truth, they can go and read the Constitution, specifically Amendment XX, Section 3: If, at the time fixed for the beginning of the term of the President, the President elect shall have died, the Vice President elect shall become President. If a President shall not have been chosen before the time fixed for the beginning of his term, or if the President elect shall have failed to qualify, then the Vice President elect shall act as President until a President shall have qualified; and the Congress may by law provide for the case wherein neither a President elect nor a Vice President shall have qualified, declaring who shall then act as President, or the manner in which one who is to act shall be selected, and such person shall act accordingly until a President or Vice President shall have qualified.
Now, please, someone explain to me where you get that he wasn’t President? Not only was he chosen. He was elected in November by the people, the electoral vote was in December that confirmed and qualified him. So, not only was the President chosen, he was qualified. The oath does not make the President. Yes, it makes it final and formal. But there have been cases where the 20th of January falls on a Sunday during an election year, but the swearing in was not until the 21st. That did not make someone not become President formally. If you even go back to the Clinton Inauguration, there wasn’t controversy when he wasn’t sworn in until 12:05pm.
So why is there so much controversy now? No, I really don’t need anyone to answer this question. I’m sure I can figure out the answer on my own. Just think about it.
I’m going to be 33 next week, but I swear to god, I feel like I’m 16 years old again a lot of the time. I wish I could say it’s because I don’t look my age, but it’s not. Mind you, I don’t look old but come on, do I need to have raging acne still? It’s not constant, but there are times when it’s bad enough that I want to go out and buy every single acne treatment on the freaking market to cure it.
Today, it’s especially bad. I don’t know why, other than my shampoo caused it. I know that it’s worse right near the hairline. It’s also where I have a giant freaking lump today. I don’t know what caused that, other than the possibility that I smacked my head in the night. Wouldn’t be the first time. I’m good at self abuse in my sleep.
But yeah, I got to do some stuff, so that’s all for this bit of a rant.
One of these days, I’m going to break down and get myself one of those nifty flash memory drives so that I can back up my documents and not have to worry about having space on my server. It’s kind of frustrating at times, especially when I’m wishing that I had my stuff when I’m at the library or whatnot.
I know that it’d be handy for other reasons too, especially when I have to go fix other people’s computers or do stuff for others. Maybe when the tax refund comes in, I’ll get one.
Now that redesign Monday is done, I can go on about my normal business and continue to look at and dream about the things I’d like to do when I build my dream house. For instance, I want to have an entryway with beautiful chandeliers to light it.
If I could, I would have one in the dining room as well, but they can’t be the candlelit ones. I fear the use of candles in that way. I like to light a single candle from time to time that is scented, but for anything else? I worry too much. I have, in my head, the picture of this grand home, but will I ever get my dream? One can only hope.
So, I spent today cleaning up two of my websites. I was trying to remove something from one and figured that it was just going to be easier to change the template rather than remove all the code from the headers and crap. Frankly, it was time for a change there, since it’d been nearly a year since it was redesigned. Fresh look for the fresh year. Next up is a fresh look for my livejournal.
I was a busy beaver, overall. I managed to make all the phone calls I needed except one. I’m waiting until after dinner to make that one. I even went so far as to schedule my next doctor’s appointment. I don’t really wanna go, but I need new prescriptions and need to discuss a few things with her.
I need to stop staying up until 3am, however. I shouldn’t have taken that damned nap last night, even if it was unintentional. Meh.
The new season of Big Love kicked off last night. Wow, that’s gonna be a helluva good season at the rate it’s already going. The L Word also started, but I didn’t see that. Heck, I still haven’t watched last season. Shame on me. Guess I’ll do that this week. Hell’s Kitchen returns soon *bounce* Good television is finally starting to get into swing again. And it’s almost time for NASCAR! Whee!
Guess that’s all for now. Need to post an update about on her blog and lj after dinner.
One of the changes that is in the air for 2009 for me is a change of diet. I want to do more healthy grilling of meats. I have a grill, I’ve used it, but I don’t use it nearly enough. It’s too easy to get lulled into the trap of doing things the easy way or doing it on top of the stove because we don’t have the counter area to leave the grill out. I want to change that, I want to get our diets back on track.
It’s funny, I’m not a dieter, but I do prefer healthier foods. I need to get more consistent about eating properly. I don’t eat breakfast sometimes, then other times I skip lunch. I eat dinner, but then eat again later because I’d not eaten enough. I don’t eat out of boredom, unless I’m snacking on a jar of peanuts or something similar that I have on my desk. Healthy snacks are the key there, snacks that are freebies, so to speak.
I need to do this. I want to do this. I also need to go back to the doctor. I dread this. Really dread it.
Everyone talks about all these new years resolutions that they set, then the talk turns to what the most effective diet pills are. Why? Everyone thinks that the best thing in the world to do is make a resolution to lose weight, so when diet and exercise don’t work quickly enough, they turn to pills to get a faster reaction.
Personally, I’m all about eating healthy and doing the right thing, letting nature take it’s course. If that doesn’t work, consult a doctor for help.
It seems like that’s how often I think about gathering quotes for term life insurance lately. I think that my impending birthday makes me more aware of how quickly life is passing by. I’ll be 33 on the 27th of January, that really trips me out a bit. It seems like just a few years ago I was still in high school. It frightens me how quickly things change sometimes. I graduated 15 years ago. I’ve been married for 5, going on 6 years. We’ve been together 9 years. What the hell? It seems like just yesterday.
One of the cool things about Google is the image search. I was working on a small review for the college that I went to and was googling for an image to use (legally of course) and found one of the awesome new digital signage that they have out front now. It’s slick looking, but I’m not sure what the point is, since the campus is on top of a hill and no one randomly drives up there.
