Happy Easter?

What a crazy day today ended up being. Last night wasn’t anything to sneeze at either, really. So lets start there. I came out of the bedroom and saw flashing red lights out my back door. Now, we have a volunteer firefighter that lives up the road, so it was just him. He was going on a call. There were all kinds of sirens, though, so we turned on our scanner to see what was going on. Turns out that there was an accident on the road that runs parallel to ours. In the end, there was one that was killed, which is rather unfortunate, since I graduated with his youngest brother.

So, fast forward to this morning. I get up, go get my bottle of water, talk to Mom for a bit, then come back to take my pills. I sit down and turn my monitor on, was reading plurk and I hear a truck coming up the road fairly fast. This is nothing out of the ordinary, since they don’t obey the speed limit on this road very much. Next thing I hear are squealing breaks and a loud crash. REALLY loud crash.

So, I jump out of my chair and run up the hall, tripping and falling on my face in my doorway. Oops, ouch. I pick myself up and get outside to see what happened. There’s two vehicles that had come together. One ended up in our yard, the other ended up across the road. No one was injured, but it sure as well was a mess. The one vehicle had a trailer load of plywood on it. The side of the trailer was destroyed, the plywood ended up in our driveway. The cop took damn near forever to get there, the wind was blowing like whoa. Of course, I’m out there trying to keep the driver of the one vehicle from going off on the other driver.

The driver at fault was driving far too fast, he was also in the middle of the road. He was just barely 18, but he was fully aware he was at fault. The other driver was completely freaked out, despite being 48 years old. You would think that the older person would be more calm than the teenager. I played mediator and kept one on each side of me at all times because the longer it took the cop, the more freaked out the guy got. Anyway, when it was all said and done, both got ticketed. The kid god failure to keep right and the other guy got driving with suspended license.

Beyond that, the day was quiet. We had a nice, quiet dinner, just slightly later than we planned. We had a fabulous strawberry cheesecake for desert, doubling as Rob’s birthday cake. His birthday isn’t until Wednesday, but it made more sense to have the cheesecake today rather than trying to have two cakes in a matter of 3 days. Especially since his schedule sucks massively and he has to work from 1pm-9pm all week. We’ll be having his birthday meal tomorrow, for the same reason.

At some point in the last few days, I did something to my big toe. It hurts, like massively. I thought that it was just a fluke, since it didn’t really hurt this morning, but tonight, it’s just massive amounts of pain. I probably shouldn’t have stood on my feet for over an hour this morning, but someone had to do it. I will be going to the Walk-In clinic tomorrow if it’s not any better. I don’t want to do that, but I’m afraid there might be something seriously wrong. I just really hope not.

One thing that I need to do soon is go to the craft stores.  That can’t happen with my toe bothering me this badly.  I want to find the yarn I need to finish a baby blanket, plus I want to get some supplies to create a custom rubber stamp for a special project.  I also want to pick up some yarn for a special blanket that I want to make for a girl who is in the hospital.

Meh, I’m tired and I think this is enough for tonight. See y’all tomorrow.
