I don’t remember much about movies in the 1980’s other than E.T. since I was quite young and didn’t get to see very many movies. E.T was the first movie that I got to see in a theater, but I’ve seen a lot of 1980’s on DVD and one of that I keep planning to see, but never get around to is WarGames. The thing is, I don’t have to see it on DVD, I can wait until the 25th anniversary return to theaters to see it.

Everyone talks about what kind of stereo you need to have to have the best sound. You hear that you should have a Bose home theater for great sound so often, but I don’t really thing that’s true. Yes, it’s a great system, yes it’s worth the money that it costs. But, it’s not worth the expense for someone like me, who listens to music on the computer only. Me, I just need a set of good computer speakers and headphones and I’m good.

What about you? Do you need an expensive stereo?

I loved the show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, I just wish that more of the celebrities would learn that 30 days isn’t enough time in drug rehab no matter how casual of a user they are. It seems like at least once a week, a new celebrity is going into rehab. When they come out 30 days later, they go right back to it. At least in most cases. Too bad more of the Celebrity Rehab cast didn’t set the example that some have.

Who would have thought…

I love music of all sorts, but Country music is my favorite genre. I grew up on Country music and that’s what I keep coming back to when I find music. Now, I don’t keep up on the newest music and really only hear new stuff when I’m listening to the radio in the car. What I’d like to get is a new High Definition radio that has the iTunes tagging capability.

With high definition, I can hear all kinds of new country music stations and if I hear a song I really like and want to remember, iTunes tagging allows me to safe the song information to my iPod for looking up later.

how great is that? Especially if I’m somewhere other than my home state. Different states have different musical rotations. For instance, Florida High Definition Radio stations play different things than the New York radio stations do. So if I’m not home and hear a new song, as long as there’s a High Def. stereo with the tagging ability, I can keep track of the songs I hear and want to keep hearing.

Everything seems to be going HD lately. Or that’s what it feels like. First it was high definition television, now it’s high definition radio that’s the latest trend. All you need is a new stereo for your car. You get all your same great radio stations, plus you get new radio stations without a subscription fee.

What does this have to do with iTunes? With iTunes Tagging you can hit the tag button on your new stereo and it sends the song information to your iPod so that you can keep track of songs that you want for later. I know that I’ve often heard songs on the radio and wished I could remember them later. Well, having an iTunes Tagging enabled radio and an iPod, you’ll never have to fight to find the song again.

This is a fantastic feature for anyone who loves music, but has a bit of a memory sieve when it comes to remembering titles and artists. Isn’t it time you upgraded your car stereo?

Everyone who knows me, knows I love music. Well now there’s a great new website for those of us who love rap music. rap Artists is a site that lists new releases and new rap artists, giving you a heads up on what’s new and upcoming.

As someone who loves rap music, I love this new site. I can keep up with some of my favorite artists like Flo Rida. I can see what the hottest songs are currently and find the ones I’ve never heard before. It’s definitely a great resource for music lovers. One that I’m quite glad exists now.

I saw parts of the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction. One thing I watched for specifically was for the In Memoriam segment to see who had passed on that the news didn’t report. I happened to also catch it when they were inducting Leonard Cohen. That was a nice presentation, really.

So those are my idol thoughts for the season. I will likely not be blogging it like I did last season because I just really don’t feel that into it.

TV Review: Big Brother Season 9

One of the places that I breezed through when I was traveling from New York to Las Vegas was Branson, Missouri. We were on the outskirts of the city, but I’ve always wanted to go back and properly explore.

One of the reasons that I wanted to go there was because Branson is the new home to Country Music. Nashville will always be the major hub, but Branson is where a lot of the stars have chosen to make their new home. For instance, the Roy Rogers/Dale Evans Museum is in Branson.

There’s also Silver Dollar City, where you can step back in time to see how people lived in the Ozark Mountains in the 1800’s. Learn what it was like to live a much simpler life and learn about history as well. But if that isn’t what you’re interested, there are plenty of museums, parks and shopping.

The main draw for me, though, is the music. Being able to see people like Buck Trent or Bill Medley or even Bobby Vinton is more appealing to me. For me, a lover of older country music, Branson is like paradise and I would love to spend a week there taking in the different shows.

Okay, so everyone has this view of Las Vegas being casinos and gambling and well, it’s not named Sin City for no reason right? But is that all that Vegas has to offer? If you had asked me eight years ago, I would have told you yes, that’s it. But, I went there to meet my now husband and boy was I in for a shock. Las Vegas isn’t all the glitz and glamour, there’s a lot of things going on that you never hear about.

One of the things that I learned quickly was that there is a little bit of everything going on in Las Vegas, including professional bull riding. You’d think that you’d only see that in the Midwest or southwest, right? Places like Oklahoma and Texas, but Las Vegas is actually the home to National Finals Rodeo and has been since 1985. In that time, the sport of professional bull riding has grown in popularity and several records have been set right there in Las Vegas. In fact, just last year, Trevor Brazile become the PRCA’s first triple crown winner since 1983.

If you’re visiting Las Vegas and like professional bull riding, then you should check into getting National Rodeo Finals tickets and see for yourself that it’s not just some big spectacle. I know that if I were to go back to Las Vegas, that would be one of the first things that I checked into, since I didn’t have the opportunity when I lived there. I’m a country girl at heart and have always loved watching bull riding. I’d never consider doing it, but watching is fun.

Singer-Songwriter Dan Fogelberg Dies

NEW YORK (AP) - Dan Fogelberg, the singer and songwriter whose hits “Leader of the Band” and “Same Old Lang Syne” helped define the soft-rock era, died Sunday at his home in Maine after battling prostate cancer. He was 56.

His death was announced Sunday in a statement by Anna Loynes of the Solters & Digney public relations agency, and was also posted on the singer’s Web site.
