Happy Valentine’s Day, readers. Personally, I dislike this day. I don’t see the need for a day to show someone how we feel about them, we should be doing it throughout the year. You never know just how much time you have with someone, so tell your loved ones how you feel.
Rather than spending money on flowers, chocolate, etc, why not think spring and buy patio furniture instead? I know that sounds weird, but give me a second to explain. When you spend money on flowers, they die within a week at most. Chocolate only lasts as long as it takes to eat it. A fancy dinner lasts one night, so why not spend the money on something that you will both enjoy on down the road?
The other thing I dislike about Valentine’s day is this – it’s great if you’re in love or in a relationship with someone, but what about everyone else? Is it fair to them? Not really.
Think about it.

We put our tree up today. It’s a 7 foot, artificial, pine. Beautiful tree. But it’s too big for our living room. Not only is it too tall. 7′ 6″ with the base and giant diameter. So, this year, we only put up the top two sections to make it smaller. It worked out absolutely beautifully. It’s just a bit taller than me. Nearly 5′ 6″ in the base. It’s pre-lit with white lights, but we added a string of flashers to it and it gave it just a bit of a pop of color. The lights are nearly 15 years old now, but they work fabulously. Sadly, it’s the ONLY freaking lights I still have. Guess what I’ll be getting in the after Christmas sales! We put up red and gold ornaments this year, with silver garland a small amount of green ornaments to break it up a bit.
After a day like today, I don’t need adipex diet pills. I forgot to eat until late this afternoon. Oops. I get too into doing everything else that I tend to forget until my stomach reminds me that it requires food. Too bad that’s not how you lose weight. I also forgot my pills this morning. Oh well.
I’m tired as all get out, so now I’m going to sleep.

I love Christmas. I just hate the whole process of shopping for gifts. Especially when I have to shop for my own gift. I’m not kidding, folks, I shop for my own gifts. Who needs an appetite suppressant when you’re stressing yourself sick over shopping for the rest of the holiday? I just wish that it would be here and over with already.
I have 2 more gifts to purchase. I just have no idea what they’re going to be yet. Would it be weird if I told my husband I wanted the accessories to go with my gift from my Mom that I ordered tonight? Nah. I don’t think I’d need that yet. Everything else I can think of that I want, though, is too expensive. I’m frustrated. I don’t really want anything. Meh.
Guess I’ll go back to searching for a gift.

Fall is coming, which means that Halloween is coming soon too. I used to love Halloween when I was young. I used to love to dress up. The last time I dressed up was in college. I tried to find a cool ‘adult’ (NON-RISQUE) costume, but all I could find that qualified as adult were school girl costumes and those are inappropriate really. It sucks to be an adult when you want to act like a little kid. It sucks.
Maybe they’ll start coming up with good costumes for adults that don’t make them look like sluts.

Didn’t we just go through the gift giving season of Christmas just last month? No? It’s been long enough for it to be Valentine’s Day already??
Go ahead and laugh at me if you want to, I don’t mind. It just seems like the days have melded into one another and it should still be January. I know that it’s not, especially since we just celebrated my birthday. I hate Valentine’s Day, though. It’s such a commercialized nightmare and all you see is commercials for diamonds and roses. Tell her you love her with this big expensive rock! Tell her you love her with flowers that die in two days! Yeah, that’s really how I feel.
I’ve told my husband time and time again not to buy me flowers or candy, especially for Valentine’s Day. If you want to get me a gift, get me something like personalized books or something I can use from day to day. I’m not into big overstated gifts, gifts that are used to show off to everyone. I want something practical.
Besides, should you need to give a gift one day a year to show someone you love them? Shouldn’t you be showing them every day? Isn’t that the point of being in love? Letting the other person know how you feel about them…

Every year, it’s a struggle to figure out what the best gifts are for people. Oddly enough, one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever seen is a cute set of magnets that were custom made. They were given to my mother and grandmother and have their names on them. This year, my mother got the prettiest gift from my sister, it’s a plate with a grandmother poem on it.
I think that the best gifts are the ones that come from the heart. Not the shiny expensive stuff, but the stuff that you had to put real thought into.
The latest craze in Christmas decorations, I’ve noticed, is the usage of led light bulbs for outdoors, as well as for your tree. They’re a fairly new technology, but they’re quickly becoming a wide spread craze. Not only are they considered to be green and save energy costs, but they last far longer than traditional lights do.
Personally, I want to invest in some LED lights for this Christmas, but I’m not sure that I can. Money is tight, the economy is shit, but wouldn’t it be better to buy lights that save money? Or save the money now and pay it out in the power costs? It really all depends on if you have the money on hand to spend now or later. I figure that I can get them after Christmas for next year, and just suck it up for this year.
One can never have too many Christmas lights, anyway.

You can tell that Christmas is coming quickly. Every time you look around, there are Christmas lights sparkling, twinkling, etc. I’ve seen them on houses, garages, shrubbery and even carports this year. It’s weird to think that there are people who decorate every single inch of space that they can.
Personally, I wish that people would at least wait until AFTER Thanksgiving to start. It seems like people have forgotten about Thanksgiving and go straight from Halloween to Christmas. Ugh.

I never used to hate Halloween, but I do now. I don’t know why, other than the fact that I have no real reason to enjoy it. I never get to go to parties, then again, I don’t like parties. I also never find Halloween Costumes that will fit me.
Sure, there are costumes for larger people, but really, it’s not the same. I would wear something like snow white, just because it’s a fun idea. I’ve always liked Snow White, but I have no real reason for liking her. I never really cared for the dwarfs.
I could also see myself as a nurse or a schoolgirl, just for fun. I could play either role quite well, especially for a party. But, again, I don’t have the body for the costumes. It’s hard to find decent sites with Plus Size costumes, but at least there are a few that I like. A fun one would be the plug and socket costumes for my husband and I.
Another fun plus size costume would be a playboy bunny. It probably wouldn’t be as flattering on me, but it’d still be a lot of fun. Oh well, I can still dream about what I want to be, even if I don’t go anywhere or do anything fun for Halloween.

It’s not even Halloween yet, but I’ve seen people already starting their outdoor lighting displays for Christmas. Why??? I can understand setting up the rooftop stuff and edge of the eaves before it snows. But, the yard scenes? Why? I can understand having Halloween lighting. I’ve seen the coolest pumpkin done on one of those old, giant satellite dishes.
It’s not Christmas yet, people. Put the snowman away and step back in the house.

What? It’s never too early to mention Halloween! Besides, wouldn’t it be cool to send out Halloween invitations for a summer party? Some people live Halloween every day, so why not have Halloween parties every day? No one ever said that you can’t enjoy a holiday when you feel like it. Halloween, while about a specific date, can be any day you want it to be. A day to honor those who have passed.

2007 is coming to a quick close and what a year it’s been. I’m waiting patiently for Saturday to get over with. Christmas was nice and quiet, just the three of us here at home. We exchanged a couple small gifts then I curled up for a nap. We ate early, then Rob and I curled up to watch Cars. Well, I crocheted more onto the baby blanket and watched. I’m almost done with it now. Yay.
Saturday we have the family gathering. I’m not really looking overly forward to it to be honest. I never really do. I’m an anti-social soul, especially this time of year. I’m planning on having pizza, chips and dips for everyone so no one has to cook. It’ll make things easier and we don’t have to worry about people not eating because they’re picky. We have soda, water, milk and kool-aid. I’ll also likely make a pot of coffee too.
We’ve decided to buy stuff and wrap it throughout the year, then when Christmas rolls around we don’t have to worry about running around buying things. I know the package we sent to Vegas went over well. I was really happy about that, since I wasn’t sure what to get her. Anyway. This year is almost over, time to think about next year.
Goals for 2008 forthcoming.

May you have a blessed and joyous holiday season, no matter what you celebrate.
So with Christmas right around the corner, the commercials on television are getting more and more pushy. Every other break, there are commercials for women’s jewelry. There are commercials for gifts that a man should get for a woman. But where are the commercials for men’s jewelry? What about for the gifts that men want?
Are you telling me that women are really that much better at picking out gifts for their man? I don’t really see that as the case. I have a hard time picking out the ‘right’ gift for my husband and he’s fairly easy to shop for. But seriously, why aren’t there more commercials for mens jewelry or clothing.
You see car commercials, tools, really stupid and obvious gift ideas, but nothing like they push for a gift for a woman. Stupid commercialization.
