Sometimes I wonder why people think that think that they need to find some Outer Banks rentals to look at. Why? Because they seem to think that they need to have fancy rental on their vacation. The thing is, you don’t have to spent a lot of money to have a fancy rental property.
Too many people feel the need to show off. Oh well. They will all get their comeuppance one day.
With prices rising, and the economy sinking into the ground, a lot of people are facing foreclosure on their homes. People who make more than enough money are struggling to make ends meet. There is really no reason for the economy to be this bad. The government doesn’t seem to care that a lot of people are losing their homes and that the poverty level is higher than it’s been in years. I’ve noticed so many houses for sale, houses that have been owned by the same person for as long as I can remember. It makes me sad, really, because I know it’s because they can no longer afford to live there.
The Wilmington real estate market is looking quite tempting. I wouldn’t mind moving there and the market looks pretty good. I’m not sure, though, that I want to move out of my home town, though. I love this area, I always have. I spent nearly a year in Las Vegas, didn’t mind it even though it’s a huge city with a ton of stuff going on all the time.
I love it here, though, and I don’t know if I can stay away for long if I did leave.
Many many times, I’ve thought about starting my own business. What kind of business? That’s where the problem always hits. I could do so many things that it’s not even funny. I have a lot of skills and a lot of ideas, but I really can’t pin anything down. I’ve even looked at commercial real estate a few times and gone, “Hey, I could so rent that place and open a tax prep business. Or various other things. One thing I had thought about was somewhere that people could bring things in, say “Will you post this on ebay?” and do that for people. There is/was one in the area, but I don’t think it went over well. I think there is still, but you never hear about it any more.
So yeah, I’ve seriously considered opening a business, but I don’t know what I’d do. What would you do?

You can learn about the City of Keller as well. You don’t even need to go look for the information, everything is there right at the tip of your fingers.
Even the Colleyville Real Estate market page gives you more information than you would expect from a website. You can even look at the Chamber of Commerce website before you decide where you want to live. When I was fresh out of college, I spent some time in South Carolina and fell in love with the state. I’ve recently had some pondering on returning to the state, but I wasn’t sure if I would want to go back to the area I was in previously. I did a lot of thinking about it and even researching.
My decision was that, when or I were to move back to South Carolina, it would be the Charleston area. There’s something about it that appeals to me. So I decided that I’d look into the Charleston, South Carolina real estate market and see what it looks like.
My searches brought me to MainSail Real Estate and I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could find out about homes in many sections of Charleston. I was also quite pleasantly surprised to see that they had the ability to search based on specific types of property and homes in various price ranges.
They definitely have the best resources for all parts of Charleston, including the downtown Charleston real estate market. It was a great eye opener for when I make the final decision of whether I want to move to South Carolina or not.
And for the record? I think that the Mount Pleasant real estate is some of the most beautiful of the area. Just sayin’.
It’s been a year since we signed our names to the new mortgage. The 12th payment went out. One year of payments. It seems like a lifetime ago What’s sad is that there are 168 payments left. That seems like a lifetime from now. This is a 15 year mortgage and we have 14 to go on it. I look at the amortization schedule monthly and cross off a payment every month and it makes me wonder if we’ll get past the first page of it any time soon. Then I look and it will be 2010 before I can get rid of that first page.
It’s crazy, but we didn’t get any real option at the time. I suppose that if we had gotten a mortgage quote elsewhere, it could be better or worse. I don’t know that there could be a better option, though. We don’t pay a lot of money per month, it’s not overly hard on the budget and the interest rate isn’t that bad. I definitely think it’s better than what it could have been.
Would I go back and do this all over again? I sure would. I’d be more than happy to sign my name to the mortgage if I had the choice again. It’s a great feeling, even if it is one of the scariest things I’ve ever done. It’s just hard to believe that it’s been nearly a year since it happened.
So, yesterday when Rob and I were out, I saw the new sign for the local nursing facility and just shook my head. They recently changed hands, so a new name was inevitable. The problem is, they gave the entire facility the name Elderwood. Now, I could see if it was a senior living community, but this is a full fledged nursing facility.
The majority of patients are lifers that need care all the time. Elderwood would be a fitting name for the assisted living facility that is part of the campus, but overall? I think they need to rethink it. Everyone thinks I’m odd for not liking it. Maybe I am. Maybe I just preferred Tioga Nursing Facility. Kind of hard to teach an old dog new tricks and I told my husband that. It’ll always be Tioga to me.
Hell, it was Tioga General Hospital when I was growing up, then Tioga Nursing Facility. Now it’s Elderwood? How are you going to break a 32 year old habit?
One of the things that I’ve thought about when I think of my dream home is having a theater room. Seriously. How cool would it be to have some really cool home theater furniture? Cushy theater seating, the sound system, lights and the big screen to watch movies on. Imagine watching your favorite movie in your own home theater.
Watching television programs in a theater room. Seriously, can you imagine that? Watch American Idol with surround sound. It’d be like being there live. Or Harry Potter. It’d be really damn sweet to have a theater room. Don’t you think?
Sometimes, I get to thinking about moving. Especially the days when it’s REALLY cold. I think about moving back to Vegas sometimes. I miss living in a city, especially when I want to go to a store and buy yarn or when I want to have more than one choice of stores to get yarn at. Locally I have the choice of Wal-Mart or K-Mart. In Vegas, there was Michaels and A.C. Moore and other stores.
I miss the fountain shows at the Bellagio. I miss standing on the sidewalk, listening to the music, watching the fountains dance back and forth. I miss the different free activities, including the water show at Excalibur. I miss having things that I can do when the mood strikes and being able to grocery shop at midnight. I miss being able to go out in the middle of the night and not be considered odd. I just miss living in the city.
Then I remember how expensive it was. I remember how hard we struggled to get by. I remember why we moved back and most importantly, I remember how far we’ve come together since we left.
When we went to Vestal the other day, I couldn’t help but notice the amount of places that were up for sale. It seems like just a few years ago there was a real estate shortage in the area. People were buying up property left and right, new businesses were being built.
The new racino may be closing, so many businesses are already closing and moving out of the area. Soon all that is going to be left are the shopping centers with the large chains that can afford to stay in dead areas. And it’s not even just businesses that are up for sale.
Along one 20 mile stretch of highway, I counted at least 10 private homes that are on the market. That’s before I quit counting. It’d depressing to watch this area go trhough these cycles, hopefully this one won’t totally kill the region. We have enough major empoyers that it shouldn’t.
