They are some of the greatest things ever. It’s eco-friendly, it’s more geared towards what I buy. I only print the coupons that I will use, only the coupons that I need. It takes a little more time, sure, but it’s worth it in the end. They are doubled, they are treated like any other coupons.

I think that if anyone is trying to save money, they should use online coupons.

Friday, I need to go shopping. I also need a hair cut and dye job. My bangs make me feel like Cousin It. The botched up highlight job is growing out and the roots are just horrible. I just don’t know who to go to. I’m going to call my old hair dresser and see if she’s ever open. If she is, I’m going to see how much she’ll charge me to cut and color. Going to lighten it for summer. We need to look at sinks while we’re out Friday. Our bathroom sink is in dire need of replacement. I can’t really buy one right now, but I can figure out how much I need to save up. I also need to figure out what to do about a screen door as well. I haven’t figured out which one I want to use. I have two that I have used. I’m just not sure if either of them will work.

It’s been so cold that I can’t feel my feet when I go somewhere. I don’t own boots, I only have sneakers. I should invest in new shoes this spring, too. I was looking at those new mbt shoes. They’re kind of odd. I’m not sure I could walk wearing them. The rounded bottom with balance issues would probably be bad.

I really should break down and buy boots. I just hate the expense of something I might wear 3-4 times a year. Meh, maybe it’ll warm up next week. I hope at least.

Back in 2003, we changed to DirectTV and haven’t had a single complaint. Last year, we switched our television in the living room out, due to the digital transition garbage. When we did, we decided to upgrade our satellite, DirecTV service to HD service. The installer came and took care of everything and it didn’t cost us a thing.

We’ve had no problems with anything, until last week. The other day, we switched channels and all of the sudden, the satellite quit receiving signal. What?? I try all the tips and tricks that are recommended, no go. So, I call Direct TV and they put me through a receiver test, just to make sure that’s not the problem. It’s not. So, they set me up for an installer to come fix it.

Now, we don’t have their protection plan, but since we’ve been loyal since ’03, they work it so that we can add the plan and have it cover the visit. Seriously, DirecTV is freaking awesome and made of win. The installer came Friday and fixed the problem. He had to rewire our coaxial cable from the outside in. It wasn’t grounded, it was buried in the ground, it was NOT right. It hasn’t been right since it was put in 15 years ago, when we first had service up here from Primestar.

DirecTV is made of complete WIN.

I’d like to have a memory foam bed, but I’m afraid that they’re too hot. Not to mention the price. Ugh. I should get a memory foam topper when I get paid to see if that helps, put it under the feather bed. I guess we’ll see. The bed is crazy high, so anything added will make it worse. Meh.

What I really want before winter, though, is a pair of hiking shoes. Why? Because I don’t wear boots, I don’t like boots. Hiking shoes are sturdy, they hold up to snow and weather quite well. It may seem odd, especially since I live in Upstate NY and we get a ton of snow, but I don’t go out in the snow much and when I do go out, it’s packed enough that hiking shoes, with their traction, would be great for me. I wore my sneakers all last winter but nearly fell more than one time.

A lot of hiking shoes are waterproof or water resistant at the very least, plus they’re constructed heavier for the different terrains. They would have decent grip on wet, icy ground, so I don’t really feel the need to have boots if I can find a good pair of hiking shoes. Now, what do hiking shoes have to do with Zappos in particular? Easy, Zappos is the only place that I know of that I can buy wide width, womens hiking shoes. Especially for a decent price.

My garden is coming along nicely. It had visitors last night, though. I threatened them and they just looked at me funny. >:( The picture isn’t that great, since I’m still learning the features of the new camera. I’ll figure it out eventually Took me a while with my other one too, but this one has so many more bells and whistles that it’ll take me a while longer. I took like 10 pictures and that’s the only one that was even remotely uploadable. I do have a video that i’ll put on youtube later.

I’m tired, I don’t think I have enough energy to think what else needs to be said.

One of the problems, however, is that there aren’t very many choices in the stores around here. They offer the basic landau medical scrubs, but they do not carry the styles that you can find online. There are more than just flowery prints, there are animal prints, different styles that look layered, and give you a wider variety to express yourself.

One thing that I find cool is that you can buy print scrub jackets to wear as well. The sizes and colors beat out anything that I’ve seen locally and the prices aren’t out of line either. If you’re looking for good quality scrubs, check out Scrubs and Beyond.

2) They carry EVERYTHING.  I do mean everything.  They carry clothes, car parts, grocery items, industrial supplies, restaurant supplies, gardening items, computers, electronics.  Everything.

3) The prices.  I pay, at the local grocery store, $2lb for cottage cheese, but Sam’s Club carries a 5lb container for $5.23.  Half the price of the grocery store.

4) Bulk Sizes.  I bought a large box of jalepeno poppers.  40-50 per box.  I go to the grocery store and can barely get 10 in a box.  That’s just about enough for me.  I could easily live on the things, but at $3/box for 10-12, it’s not worth it.

5) Convenience.  Despite the size of the stores, it’s convenient.  You can get your pet food, groceries, a new computer, tires for your car and a new outfit, all in one stop.

Yeah, I love Sam’s Club.  And I don’t even have my membership yet.  Soon, though.  Soon.

So, finding the game was today, I decided that we’d go to it. Had nothing else going on, so there’s no real reason that we couldn’t go. I also found out that the site that lists the fields that we play on were wrong. Wtf? Someone needs to update those sites, desperately. I did find the game, after realizing that I’m a dingbat. I should have known where they played, especially since I graduated from that freaking school. Why wouldn’t I know? Because I didn’t ever get to go to any of the games because I don’t drive and we only had one car that my father always had it and was too busy to go.

We got slaughtered, for the record. But it was fun, anyway. I’m not sure if I’ll go to another game or not, since it seems that I can’t get my husband to shut his damn trap. Ever. I was trying to watch the game and he was whispering comments in my ear the entire time. It’s kind of hard to pay attention when he’s complaining about the coaches, umps, etc. It amuses me, in a way, since he dislikes baseball and football, but he feels this dire need to comment on everything. Ah well. We’ll see.

Another thing that I spent my day doing was trying to figure out different ways to arrange the furniture in our bedroom.so we have more room. The plans were sparked by a conversation that we were having about the house I grew up in and how much I missed the large bedrooms that it had. There were 5 upstairs, 2 downstairs, and if we still lived in the house, I’d have the room for my own office. The only thing that I’d change about the house is having heat piped to the upstairs and the room we called the ice box.

I miss having that house, but it was on quite a bit of acreage and a large property tax bill. There’s no way we could have kept up with the taxes, which is why it was sold in the first place. Oh well, life will go on. I don’t mind where we live now. If I did mind, I probably wouldn’t be living here, frankly. It would just be nice to have more rooms, especially for my own office.

One of the things that I really would love to have is one of the beautiful wall fountains that I’ve seen lately. I think the sound of a small fountain would be lovely, as well as work wonderfully to keep the house from getting too dry like it does now. Especially since I woke up completely unable to breath this morning. I’m all about nature and flowers and water, so a wall fountain with some sort of fruit or flower Sense & Spray scent would be a fabulous thing.

I also decided today was a good day to make chicken wings. That was kind of a bad idea, though. They weren’t thawed completely when I went to bake them so they ended up steaming in the pan I poured off a ton of water when I took them out. They were alright, but not as good as the last batch I made. Guess I’ll stick with tossing them in the fryer from now on, since baking was made of fail.

I am also highly annoyed with my DSL provider. This is the second time in less than a month that we’ve gone without Internet for multiple hours. It went down around 9:30 last night and I have no idea what time it came back. It was still down when I went to bed around midnight or so. I woke up around 8 and it was back up. It’s not cool, really. It makes it hard to look at Sferra linens. Yeah, I really was trying to find new blankets for our bed. It’s time to think about a lighter weight spring/summer blanket and I don’t really have any that match my bedding. The price for the Sferra isn’t bad, but a bit out of my price range. Definitely beautiful and I’d love to have some of their bedding.

Ah well, I guess that since Pi day is over, so is this post.

Now, I’m not sure what others think, but I really like the looks of automatic watch winders and they’re not overly expensive either. There are so many different varieties to choose from. You can get a single winder, a double winder and even quad winders.

I didn’t even know that there were Rolex watch winders. Frankly, I didn’t know anyone made watch winders in this day and age. But I guess there are still people who wear wind-up watches.

If you are one of those people and are tired of winding your watch, then you really should consider getting a watch winder. Ladies, if your man wears a watch that has to be wound, then you’ve got a great gift idea for the next big occasion that requires a gift. Give it some thought, you never know who might like it.

Personally, I want to invest in some LED lights for this Christmas, but I’m not sure that I can. Money is tight, the economy is shit, but wouldn’t it be better to buy lights that save money? Or save the money now and pay it out in the power costs? It really all depends on if you have the money on hand to spend now or later. I figure that I can get them after Christmas for next year, and just suck it up for this year.
