Books, Reading, Audiobooks

I love reading, this is never been a question in my life. I’ve been reading since I was old enough to know how. In one of the rooms in our upstairs where I grew up there were at least 5 or 6 boxes full of books. A lot of them were ‘bodice rippers’, but there were some fantastic books in the lot. The problem is, when we moved out of the house, the books got left behind and it sucked. My parents just plainly didn’t understand my desire to build a library.

I still love books, I buy them as often as I can and I still want to build a library room. The thing is, more and more now, I prefer audiobooks. Mostly because I haven’t gotten the hang of reading while crocheting. I can watch TV and crochet, but reading is out. I also can’t sit and read a book while doing stuff on the computer either.

After reading the paper copies of all the Twilight and Harry Potter series, I’ve been listening to the Audiobook versions. Currently, I’m listening to Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. When I’m finished, I don’t know for sure what I’m going to listen to. I’m considering going back to the Twilight books, or the Sookie Stackhouse books. I’m not sure yet.

I need to finish reading the book I started ages ago. Meh, there needs to be more hours in the day.

Since I plurked about it, I should post about it…
The other day, I got an advance reader copy of Lori Handeland’s upcoming book.
Advance. Reader. Copy.

So far? It’s excellent!

Breaking Dawn

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

So during the 8 hours before I went to bed and had no Internet connection, I cracked into Breaking Dawn. I got 320 pages in before my eyes got to the point where I couldn’t read. At that point, I went to bed and watched Big Brother After Dark for 3 hours. Why wasn’t I asleep? I had a sinus headache and really couldn’t be bothered to get up to get anything.

I am enjoying the book so far. It’s not what I expected, really. The different perspectives are interesting. I think she’s really onto something with that. Meyer has Twilight, from Edward’s perspective in the works. I will definitely be reading that.

So, time for me to read more. Happy Saturday!

Books, Books, Books

I love books, books are a great thing. I have always been surrounded by books. I always want to be surrounded by books. They can take you to a different world, they can take you away from whatever worries that are bothering you.

Why do I love books so much? I love books because you have to use your imagination. You can’t just see the scene, you have to use your mind and paint your own pictures. You have to figure out what you think the scenes look like, rather than what someone else thinks.

Movies and television are fine, but in the end, books are the things that make you learn and grow more. Personally I’m glad that I grew up surrounded by books. I will be surrounded by them until the day I die. If you never have enough time to sit down and read, you really should make some time. It will make your life a lot less stressful. Audio books are good too, especially if you have a long commute or trip coming up.
